Kuchar Enters the U.S. Open on a High Note

June 12 , 2009

Coming off a top five finish at the Memorial Tournament last week, Matt Kuchar looks to continue his hot streak this week in the 2009 U.S. Open at the famed Bethpage Black course in Farmington, N.Y.

This will mark the fifth appearance at the Open for Kuchar. His best result in the Open came last year where he tied for forty-eighth.

This is the second time that Bethpage has hosted the event. The first came in 2002, where Tiger Woods won his second U.S. Open title. Bethpage is a par 70 and will test the players’ mental endurance.

Kuchar, who has made the cut in 11 of 14 events in 2009 and has six Top 25 finishes, ranks 49th on the PGA Tour Money List with $916,715. Kuchar also remains in the hunt for the FedEx cup, currently sitting in 55th place.

At the U.S. Open, Kuchar will be paired with Billy Mayfair and Ricky Barnes. The trio will tee off from the first hole at 2:09 pm on Thursday. The group will start off the 10th tee at 8:39 am on Friday.
